Beelink SER 4 4800U X pairs a Ryzen 7 CPU with Manjaro Linux – Liliputing

Tiny PC specialist Beelink is offering up a new model that ships with a Linux-based OS preinstalled. The SER 4 4800U X pairs an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U processor with the popular Manjaro distro. The system measures about 5 inches square and stands an inch and a half tall. It sports some eye-catching accents to break up the black metal shell: red grills on the sides and a matching power button on the front.

AMD’s Ryzen 4800U is a nice fit for the compact SER 4. It offers clock speeds from 1.8Ghz  to 4.2Ghz while drawing a maximum of 15 watts.

The SER 4 features three USB 3.0 type-A ports: two on the front and another on the back. There’s also a single USB 3.1 type-C port and a USB 2.0 type-A port at the back.

Need to connect multiple monitors? The integrated Radeon Vega 8 GPU provides plenty of power to push video to up to three displays, two via HDMI ports and another via USB-C. Wi-Fi 6 support comes standard and Beelink also supplies a gigabit Ethernet port and headphone jack.

Remove the system’s bottom plate and you’ll find a bay that accepts standard 2.5-inch SATA drives. It’s left empty for expansion as the SER 4 ships with a 500GB M.2 SSD preinstalled.

The SER 4 4800U X lists for $599 on Beelink’s website with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Upgrading to 32GB memory adds another $50 to the price tag.

This isn’t the first system we’ve seen ship this year with Manjaro. MINISFORUM revealed the DeskMini UM700 a few months ago, but it’s based on a slightly older config.

It’s powered by a Ryzen 7 3750 APU and priced at $559 on Amazon. For an extra $40, the Beelink SER 4 4800U X seems to have the edge in terms of the price to performance ratio.
